The Special Needs Activity Club (SNAC) is a registered charity formed in 1993 by parents living in the Port Talbot area, who were unable to find suitable leisure facilities for special needs children in the locality.
We have a specific indoor area for physical activity, sensory, computer and television rooms, an art and craft area, cooking sessions sweet and savoury, reading, listening to music and sing alongs.
Activities include arts and crafts, we have our own indoor play area, which included climbing frames and slides, ball games, water play with our own water feature, pedal go-karts in a purpose build outdoor area. The centre has a multi-sensory room for the therapeutic benefit of children who have sensory disorders, autism, ADHD and a chance to relax in comfort and privacy for all members who attend the centre. The centre has a chill-out room which offers children a chance to relax by playing interactive video games or by simply watching DVD’s. Activities are led by qualified and trained Playworkers and Team Leaders. The team of staff are qualified in first aid and are here to make your visit comfortable, pleasant and fun. Siblings are encouraged to also visit the centre and build relationships and make friends with other siblings who attend.
SNAC also acts as a support network for parents of special needs children from all areas of South Wales, by acting as a meeting place where they can exchange information on an informal basis in a relaxed and safe environment for them and their children.
Parents and carers are given the opportunity to discuss their needs and ideas and hopes with people who understand their thoughts and dreams.
